In Support of Liberty
By Shannon Palowitch
Until this election cycle I was never drawn to politics. In fact, I did all that I could to avoid them. Why? Because politicians, to me, represent the worst our country has to offer.
It doesn’t matter which side of the fence we stand on, be it Democrat or Republican, because they both offer all of the same empty promises. Being uninvolved gave me the easy out of, when people were complaining about the terrible acts perpetrated by this politician or that one, being able to say, “Don’t look at me. I didn’t support them.”
That’s not the case this time. If I remain uninvolved in this election while the two most unfavorable politicians are winning the race for POTUS I am just as complicit as those who support them.
I believe that America is falling into a state of corruption, from the top down, where poverty is prominent and money reigns supreme. With Clinton or Trump at the helm, our great country will fall and may never be able to pick herself back up. The solution, however, is simple.
We must return to our roots, to the Constitution, and embrace true liberty once again. There is only one candidate in the running for POTUS who has founded his campaign upon the Constitution, a libertarian named Austin Petersen.
Austin Petersen is the underdog by far in this race. He is young, new to being in the political spotlight, and when he began his campaign was widely unknown. Yet, his devotion to the Constitution, his fire and drive for personal liberties, for minimal government intervention, for the rights of private entities, and his consistency in his pursuit of these things has garnered the support of individuals from every party.
He has the eloquence, tact, and backbone that will be vital in achieving any modicum of success in debate against the Democratic and Republican nominees.
Now is the time for every American, young and old, to make a stand against the corruption that is so widespread in our government today.
It is time for us to bury our prejudices against those we see as young and inexperienced and usher in a new era of government. It is time for us to support Austin, and help achieve his goal of taking over the government to leave us alone. For as he says, “Forget liberty in our life time. Liberty by sundown!”
